Animated still images always look so cheesy, Garruk’s is the worst. Why not just make an animation?

Like the answer to most things: Money. And time likely. I also think they want to preserve the original artist’s work with small modifications for motion so that the art in MtG cards and their trailer movies is recognizable very quickly.

I actually really like the way they do the trailers.
